What is our event?
Our objective for this event is to get students involved in a student’s vs students’ format, also to get more recognition to the Esports society. Our plan is to host a Halloween theme open day which includes an Overwatch 2 tournament that students can come into the tournament room and go against each other to see who the best is. With the winners of this event will then go on to go head-to-head against the winner of the lecturer vs lecturer event to crown who is better students or lecturers. Our event will not just be about an Esports tournament, but we will be inviting all the different societies around the college to show up to our event and have their own stalls for people to sign up and get recognition of their society. We will have sign ups for our Esports tournament at our stall in the atrium where sign-ups will happen in the morning up until lunch. We will then get the tournament brackets all set up during lunch then we will start the competition. With the tournament being two vs two we will be able to have multiple games going on at the same time allowing us to get through games at a faster pace.
Dates For our Event?
Our event will be taking place on the 30th of October this will be a whole day event with loads of opportunities for students to take part and socialize with other students around the college and other societies. The start time of our event will be at 10:00 till 13:00 for teams to sign up for our Esports tournament, however students who don’t want to take part playing games can still watch the tournament which will be running until 16:00.
About our Facilities?
Our studios, which are the first of their kind in Scotland, feature two industry standard tournament rooms, a broadcasting studio, commentators’ studio and a recording booth, all equipped with top of the range gaming technology and equipment. Which will be in used on the day for students and lecturers to use on the day for the event as they will take part in an Overwatch two vs two tournament.
Information about our society
Our society is an collegiate Esports team called the D&A Dragons, where we take part in multiple tournaments for example Battle for Scotland and NSE. We are always looking to take part in more tournaments. We currently have teams for popular Esports titles such as Rocket League, Overwatch 2, League of legends and many more. Now that the society has been up for over a year now, we are looking to start some community nights for the society, this will be a great way for students around the college to meet up and have a good time. We have some ideas such as a society night out, bowling or a watch party to watch League of legends worlds at the cinema if it will be shown.
