ROCKET LEAGUE TURNS 10, 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 2025

How has it been 10 years already!? It feels like just yesterday I bought the game from my local Tesco’s. I will be talking about the history of rocket league from 10 years ago to now. I loved this game because it was football with cars. my 2 favourite things in one game, I HAD TO BUY IT. 10 years later and the game is still going as strong as ever!

In game cosmetics and customization

This game had a unique aspect to it by customizing your cars adding decals to your car, having antennas and different kinds of boost you can use, you can even have a cool goal explosion each time you score! throughout the history of rocket league there has been a lot of new cars and stuff to get. It was always exciting. There is so many cars to choose from and you can customize the paint finish aswell. You can do so much with your cars its CRAZY!

The History of Crates and trading

Rocket league had an amazing system in crates which is basically loot crates. You can get amazing items out these crates to customize your car with. Rocket league had another great mechanism called trading, trading was a great way for players to socialise and trade their items.

It was a big part of the community that brought lots of players who maybe don’t want to play the game as much to just trade and have a good time.
They sadly removed trading in 2023 which caused a massive uproar in the community. Crates also got removed back in 2019.

Epic games taking over

Psyonix’s rocket league was bought by epic games, a popular and successful company that made great games like Fortnite. The game then went free to play in 2021 causing a massive rise of players to come to the game, this is when rocket league started to reach new heights.

Rocket league got a soft reboot going back to season 1. They brought out new game modes and added a tournament playlist, they added a battle pass, an item shop, it felt like the game had been brought to a whole other level!

History of the Esports

Rocket league esports is one of the most popular esports in the world. It features the best players going head-to-head in an intense environment surrounded by thousands of fans cheering either side on.

the esport consist with 2 major LAN events and a world championship every year. In my opinion rocket league esports is the most entertaining esport to watch. its easy for any non-player to follow, its fast-paced action makes it even more exciting.

In game Tournaments

Ever since epic games took over rocket league, they have added a playlist called “tournaments”. It was a great way for non-pros to compete in high level events. To get some experience in tournament style events.

They do a single elimination bracket which means if fur team loses a series, you are out of the tournament.
They done this tournament every day at 7:00. but over the years they have added more tournaments and more timings to fit other players time schedules.

Conclusion

I am amazed rocket league has still been going strong all these years later. Even after rocket league got taken over by epic games this game has been booming in player counts. We all thought this game would die back in 2018-2019 but we were wrong. they keep adding new things to the game that keeps it fresh and exciting for players. Will rocket league still be around after 10 years?
