A competitive Fortnite pros cheating attempt will end in a comprehensive fine being completely donated to charity.
A Fortnite pro was recently found guilty cheating in a the recent FNCS tournament. The player was caught using banned software and hardware during tournaments and has ultimately been fined £129,000 by the court. Fortnite has pledged to take all the money it collects from the cheating fine and have it donated to charity, with the player in question being permanently banned from the game.
Epic hosts a tournament every Fortnite season called the “FNCS” (Fortnite Championship Series). With some of the top pros competing for prize money in Regional Leagues, Majors and Global Championships. Fans are then able to bet on what player will win using dedicated Fortnite betting sites.
Epic Cheating Rule Changes
In November 2024, Epic tried to tackle cheating rates in competitive tournaments. FNCS then released changes to anti-cheating rules and competitive integrity.
- “Anyone found teaming up with a cheater in a tournament will face a minimum 28-day competitive ban, which will increase in duration with every subsequent violation.”
 - “If players have a competitive ban on 14 days or longer, they will not be able to compete in FNCS tournaments during that season or any season that the ban overlaps with.”
 - “We’re also ramping up legal action against both players who cheat and cheat sellers.”
 
And less than a month later Epic showed how serious they were with this when the filed a lawsuit against a player for using cheating software and hardware. Then attempting to avoid bans by creating multiple accounts, the player has also received a lifetime ban from the game.

The community gave overwhelming support to this and celebrated the increased brutality to cheaters in Fortnite. Professional players and fans all encouraged the legal approach, with pro team 100 Thieves co-owner Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop commenting “Sue them all!”. With one viewer commenting “They should have a good enough anti cheat to prevent people from cheating in the first place”.
Cheating Past
This isn’t the first time Epic has publicly incited legal action
 against players cheating in Fortnite. In February of 2025, epic announced that a Fortnite player that engaged in account sharing would face a lifetime ban from all future Fortnite tournaments. In the lawsuit the player was also required to agree to a monetary settlement.

This particular cheater “Repulse” then released an apology video on YouTube titled “15 February 2025”. Where they added text onto a white background stating their confession, apology and remorse.
